Get comfy with Sleeping Bag

Have plans for Wednesday night? Well, now you do. Bloomington band Sleeping Bag will be groovin’ at the Bishop June 6th…be there at 9:30.

Originally a solo act, the band started as a drum project for Dave Segedy.  A trio formed shortly after, with guitarist Lewis Rogers and bassist David Woodcruff, who both also sing, and that is the legend of Sleeping Bag. The band creates tunes that are addictively simple, yet evocative. Straight-ahead drum beats and catchy chord progressions make the tracks easy to follow. Segedy writes the songs, and sings most lead vocals, which makes Sleeping Bag even more interesting. When was the last time you saw a band perform with a drummer as the lead singer?

Check out the self-titled album “Sleeping Bag,” which the band released last fall on Joyful Noise Recordings.  indie rockers have a comfortable sound to offer the listener. Somehow, the musicians craft a sound that is simultaneously unusual and familiar. Curious? See you Wednesday.
